Construction Job Positions

Foreman


James H. Wright Construction Co. LLC is seeking to hire a Construction Foreman to assist us with organized operations and workers’ performance at our construction sites. You will be a key person for leading the staff towards the completion of a project, supporting them and assisting with interacting with senior management.

You should have a solid background in the field and possess leadership skills, being able to direct the work of others and make quick decisions. We also expect you to be well-organized and to favor safety above everything else


Job responsibilities would include:

  • Working alongside your crew to oversee completion of jobs
  • Organize the fulfillment of tasks according to priorities and plans
  • Adhere to all OSHA safety requirements and quality standards
  • Providing guidance and support for your crew
  • Keeping the Operations Manager informed of all problems with the job
  • Requesting tools and materials in a timely manner to remain on schedule
  • Assisting in evaluating members of your crew
  • Consulting blueprints, designs, and instructions to develop your job correctly and ensure that crews meet production goals
  • Prepare daily work orders to document crew members’ time and information about the day’s work
  • Operating heavy equipment and using the GPS
  • General layout with GPS base and rover
  • Figure grade based on plans for utilities installation

 

 

Ideal candidates would meet the following qualifications:

  • Significant experience with construction procedures, equipment and occupational safety and health guidelines
  • Excellent understanding of how to read and implement drawings, plans and blueprints
  • Strong communication, organizational and leadership skills
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently
  • Prior experience as a foreman leading a crew/team
  • Able to communicate well with a crew/team as well as your Operations Manager
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment such as a dozer, excavator equipped with GPS
  • Ability to lay sanitary sewer, storm sewer and water main
  • Possess a general knowledge of daily/weekly maintenance of heavy equipment

- Grading experience (highly preferred)

- Valid driver’s license

- Operate machinery

- Bulldozer, compactor, skid steer, articulating truck, backhoe, excavator

- Operate TopCon GPS (highly preferred)

- Grease and maintain machinery

- Read plans that are provided to you

- Use GPS

- Communication skills

- Be prompt

- Have transportation
